Hi Real,

Sorry for the delayed response.
I understand that in the Office 365 portal, the alias you added is not listed as the following picture shows: 

If this is the case, and also I heard that you have tried the #2 method and found the alias is already there, please check if you can receive the email sent to this email alias. If you do, there might be just some error in the page above. Generally we recommend the customer add the email alias in Exchange admin center.  Your efforts are much appreciated.
